Path of Exile fans, Grinding Gear Games is officially unveiling your next expansion, dubbed The Fall of Oriath.
It turns out that the place your Exile called home before being banished is not only the main setting of this act but is going through some rough times. Even lowbies like yours truly who vaguely recall their origin story can get behind this act. We're going home, dealing with civil unrest, and welcoming back some lost deities with sharp pointy objects or finger-wiggling destruction. And that's literally just the beginning.
New players might not realize that once you clear Acts 1-4 for the first time, you essentially replay them on a harder mode, like a New Game Plus from old-school RPGs that are featured prominently in a lot of modern ARPGs, like the Diablo series. After two replays, you'd move on to endgame. But GGG says it now realizes it loses a lot of players during the replay section of progression. Those who made it to endgame became core players, though, so the studio figured that if it cut back on the repetitive gameplay with some new acts, it'd be easier to get people to endgame and retain them. Considering that the game saw a 44% increase in player hours in 2016 when compared to 2015 and had over a million active players in December, I'm guessing they're making the right call for their metrics.
So Act 5 will take place in Oriath, across towns, temples, and mountaintops. You'll be fighting in all new zones, and of course, pick up some new abilities along the way. But Acts 6 through 10 take place in the old world as you revisit past areas to see how they've changed thanks to your meddling. Towns will be built up, mobs will evolve, paths you unlocked will remain unlocked, etc. A cynic might suspect the base game is simply being retextured, but Grinding Gears told me it's focusing on making Acts 6-10 story-driven content based on changes brought about in previous acts, and in doing so, the studio can create multiple acts much faster than before.
Beyond expansions, Grinding Gears is further trying to regain lapsed players with its previously introduced league system. These are essentially the same Acts but with new mobs or rulesets, like rarer dropped items and "permadeath" (by which we mean, a character can no longer participate in a specific campaign, but is safely transferred to permanent servers with all their fat loot intact).
On March 3rd, players will gain access to "The Legacy Challenge League." This league lets you revisit past leagues for adventures/items to celebrate the upcoming expansion, which is free. All of it. Except, you know, stuff in the store. This will be available before the beta for the expansion and followed by the actual expansion later this year.
The Xbox One version of the game is chiefly aimed at bringing hardcore PC action to console gamers. While everything coming in this expansion will be ready in time for the Xbox One launch, there's sadly no cross-play since the console version isn't identical (at one point, the number of potions available at a time for Xbox players was fewer than for PC gamers, for example, though that's since been fixed). Grinding Gears told me it's already turned many casual players into hardcore by building an accessible system that teaches and motivates players to be smarter. Combined with help from Microsoft's advertising team and grassroots demos with media, the New Zealand-based team is hoping to reach a broader audience. We did ask about mouse-and-keyboard play on consoles: GGG explained it doesn't support that sort of play and would prefer people to play with the controller, as they've removed all the mouse code from the Xbox version of the game. The studio also says it's cleaned up the UI and store for Xbox and will be rolling out the change for PC as well.

It's crazy to think that World of Warcraft, first released in 2004, is still going strong today. Indeed, it's no small feat to have over five million rumoured subscribers for a game that, despite being very different today than it was back then, has been going for 12 years.
Despite Blizzard no longer sharing subscriber numbers, the company's strength allows for constant reinvention and reinvigoration, and with this year's release of Legion selling 3.3 million copies, World of Warcraft shows no signs of disappearing any time soon.
If you're thinking of jumping back in, you've got great timing – it's as good as it's ever been. Just brace yourself; the game may have changed, but the players you're likely to bump into on your travels haven't.
I love it for a multitude of reasons; character generation is amazing, the game is absolutely stunningly beautiful, there are a million quests covering all sorts of activities, grinding is effective if you just want to go somewhere and slaughter, combat is insanely fun, but most of all, I love it for its complexity.
Revelation Online is an ambitious and breathtaking new MMO in which players will discover an amazing adventure and explore a vibrant world of ancient mystery using the power of flight without any boundaries. It is difficult to come across this much and diverse content for any type and level of player. The game includes several PVP modes, like a Last Man Standing arena, sieges for up to hundreds of players, as well as PVE raids, requiring teamwork and tactical gameplay.
Dark and Light is meant to be a fantasy sandbox survival MMORPG. Players stake claims on the land using magic to change the physical laws and ecosystem of the world; this embodies the essence of the game: constant opposition and conflict. Numerous conflicts exist within human society in the game, as well as between humans and the environment around them. Exploration and competing for survival are the major themes at the core of Dark and Light.
The first online game in the Elder Scrolls franchise will cover the entire continent of Tamriel and feature three distinct player factions. Players will choose a faction and clash with the other two factions, the Empire and the Daedric Prince Molag Bal in an attempt to take control of the Imperial City of Cyrodil and stop Nirn from becoming merged with Oblivion.
The game features three distinct player factions each with three member races.
The Daggerfall Covenant controls northwest Tamriel with a strong hold on High Rock and footholds in both Skyrim and Hammerfell.
The Aldmeri Dominion has a tight hold on Summerset Isle with a strong foothold in Valenwood.
The Ebonheart Pact holds Morrowind with a foothold in Skyrim.
Rift's latest expansion, Starfall Prophecy, is the first time I find myself having run with Trion's flagship game since around the time of Storm Legion. That said, this expansion's had its share of bumps and some design choices that seem a bit antiquated.
Diablo 3's about to have a pretty big 2017 with the Diablo: Darkening of Tristram event going live in January, the Necromancer Character Pack later in 2017, and tons of new features being added as well.
FINAL FANTASY XIV is one of the most popular MMORPGs of its generation. After a disastrous release, the title got back on its feet with A Realm Reborn and has ever since been relevant for its content and community. Players of the latest online game in Square Enix’s long-running franchise are dedicated to it, be it for its dungeons, its lore, or its social mechanics, the latter of which may seem like a huge deal for outsiders. Living up to such expectations, a virtual theater group known as A Stage Reborn will perform an adaptation of the play that opens FINAL FANTASY IX, I Want To Be Your Canary.
Launched in 2012, "Guild Wars 2" is an immensely multiplayer online role-playing game made by Arena Net for Apple Mac OS and Microsoft Windows. It is set in a fictional world of Tyria, 250 years after the players' overthrow of the Great Destroyer in the Eye of the North enlargement.

Pokémon GO is a free-to-play augmented reality mobile game developed by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. The game was released in July 2016. The game allows players to capture, battle, train, and trade virtual Pokémon who appear throughout the real world. The game is free-to-play, although it supports in-app purchases. An optional wearable device that works alongside the game, called the Pokémon Go Plus, will be released in the future as a separate purchase. The device uses Bluetooth connection to notify users when a Pokémon is nearby with an LED display and light vibration.
As in previous The Elder Scrolls titles, gameplay is mostly nonlinear, with a mixture of quests, random events, and free-roaming exploration of the world. The game does not provide a mode for single-player offline play, although the developers have stated that there will be "plenty of content" designed to accommodate players who prefer to play solo.
The player is able to play as numerous races such as Nords, Redguards, Bretons, Imperials, Dunmer (Dark Elves), Altmer (High Elves), Bosmer (Wood Elves), Orsimer (Orcs), Khajiit, and Argonians. Players must choose one of four classes when creating their character. Each class gives the player various different attacks, spells, and passive effects. The game has other character choices beyond those of race and class, such as the player character also being able to become either a vampire or a werewolf, each of which grants its own skill tree.

Black Desert Online is a sandbox-oriented massively multiplayer online role-playing game by Korean video game developer Pearl Abyss. In my personal opinion, I think Black Desertonline has combined all merits of other RPG games and made up some shortages of them. This game has the best looking graphics; its game scene looks so real.
Black Desert Online keeps getting larger and larger as the first part of the next major expansion, Valencia, receives a June 1 release date.
The new content increases the size of the world by an additional 30% and also brings hundreds of new quests, some of which extend the main storyline.
With Valencia Part One, players will be able to journey to an expansive desert region where exploration will take a completely different turn. Extreme heat during daytime requires proper hydration and intense cold at night requires players to stay warm. Additionally, a new weather effect, sandstorm, inflicts damage unless players set up a tent to protect themselves.
Regular horses and wagons are not ideal to traverse the desert and will see their speed lowered. Thankfully, players will be able to purchase Camels from NPCs, which fare much better in these harsh conditions. Another new mount, the Guild-owned Elephant, serves as a powerful war mount in sieges
TERA, the number two, also has great graphics. As far as MMOs go, Tera's quite a looker, featuring all manner of exceedingly colorful vistas and detailed character models. Better still, its high detail settings run like a dream even on mid-range machines.Itgot the Presidential Award at 2011 Korean Game Awards.
TERA players will be able to check out the new Ninja class with the release of the Secrets & Shadows update on May 17th. In addition, flying mounts will enter the game, two new story-based dungeons and the continuation of the story line that left off at the end of Fate of Arun.
Survarium is a free-to-play online first-person shooter with role-playing and survival elements developed by Vostok Games. A worldwide ecological disaster occurred in the year 2020, wiping out approximately 90% of the human race. The disaster takes the form of a fast-growing forest that actively seeks out threats to its growth and destroys them.Survarium takes place in 2026 with players attempting to survive and defend themselves against the forest in destroyed cities and encampments.
Survarium Update 0.42b2 is now available and will be installed when you restart the game! This is a client fix which doesn't require server maintenance.Player characters are drawn and character controllers are computed in different threads now, thus making the framerate more stable and the game more comfortable.
The SKIES is a post-apocalyptic MMO set in the near future, where surviving people roam the landscape in search of resources while wary of lurking bandits.Based on a novel by one of the developers, The SKIES touts a non-linear narrative, allowing players to progress as they please. If you like the feeling of adventure, this game will not let you down.
The SKIES touts a non-linear narrative, allowing players to progressas they please. Join one of several factions run by player hierarchies, and goes to war with other clans for towns or build your own base. Enter the arena, where up to 20 playersdook it out to be the strongest survivor in the desert. Engage with NPC's whose dialogue reflects a player character's gender, IQ, skills, and story.
5.Chronicles of Elyria
The most dynamic and immersive MMO to date, Chronicles of Elyria is the first MMORPG where your character ages and dies, encouraging you to think beyond your character to their role in a larger story. To begin with, the base spirit loss for a death is 2 real-life days of play, each time you are forced to Spirit Walk.
So that means that if you are someone who dies very rarely, maybe once per month, and would have otherwise lived an average lifespan of approximately 12 months, then at the 11 month mark you would have shaved off approximately 22 days of play time, ending your character's lifespan.
6.Riders of Icarus
Embark on the ride of your life in Riders of Icarus, an free-to-play action-adventure MMORPG featuring exhilarating aerial combat unlike anything ever seen before in the genre. Players take flight on the backs of fantastical beasts, ranging from ferocious bears to fire-breathing dragons, to fight by both land and air in the unprecedented experience MMO players have been waiting for.
Everyone has their own pet peeves when it comes down to a game’s combat. Some people really like to just have the traditional MMORPG systems in place of clicking a target, selecting skills, and slowly bashing the enemy to pieces. Perfectly valid. Other people really like having the option to take a more direct approach, aiming their shots and being rewarded for skillful hacking and slashing. Riders of Icarus come down firmly on both sides of the debate with its new Action Mode, allowing players to toggle back and forth between the styles as desired.
The Action Mode/Standard Mode toggle can be changed at any time, with the former allowing for freeform aiming whilst locking your mouse to your camera movement. Players can tailor their approach to roles in battle or combat needs as well, with Action Mode being used to snipe with a crossbow or hack at an enemy whilst mounted with a lance. The new mode will be available during the game’s next closed beta, so players will get to try out the swapping mechanics for themselves.
7.World of Warcraft
WoW is my favorite game. Although it is ranked 7th this month, I still feel comforted considerably. Blizzard’s iconic World of Warcraft has been one of a handful of games that have endured in the massively multiplayer arena.
At this point, just months out from its summer 2016 release, there's a fair bit that we know about World of Warcraft: Legion, Blizzard's sixth expansion pack for its decade-old massively multiplayer game. We know the level cap will be going up. We know there will be new lands to explore. And we know that a plot twist will bring back IllidanStormrage, the main antagonist of 2007's Burning Crusade expansion, long thought dead at the hands of the players themselves.
8.Elder Scrolls Online
ESO It slipped down too much in May. Developed by the team at ZeniMax Online Studios, The Elder Scrolls Online merges the unmatched exploration of rich worlds that the franchise is known for with the scale and social aspects of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. As a great game, it still has great pretention to be the number 1.
Overwatch is a multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Unveiled at BlizzCon 2014, the game emphasizes cooperative gameplay using a cast of various "heroes", each with their own abilities and roles within a team. The game was released on May 24, 2016, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Hope it can get a better result next month.
10.Tree of Savior
Tree of Savior is a free massively multiplayer online role playing game developed by IMC Games. The game was developed by Kim Hakkyu, creator of RagnarokOnline. It is based on traditional Lithuanian culture and mythology. It features extremely diverse class system. You have many different ways to build your character and Current cap at this time is upwards of nearly 300 levels.Although It seems that fans’concerns about this game have receded somewhat, it’s still worth having a try.
All above is the latest list. Look forward to seeing more new games on this list in the next month. Thank you for your support! See you next time.
If you think you’ve seen everything that Final Fantasy XIV has in its bag of tricks, the game’s Q&A panel at PAX yesterday made it clear that it has plenty of new stuff in the wings. The panel revealed that patch 3.35 will add in the brand-new Palace of the Dead, a labyrinth crawling with the undead that’s unlike any other content currently in the game, starting with the fact that it’s a randomized soloable dungeon with its own level progression system.
Of course, that wasn’t revealed until the end of the panel rather than the beginning; there was enough to keep fans excited just on the basis of the panel serving as the game’s first ever live Q&A session in North America. Director and producer Naoki Yoshida, loremaster Christopher Koji-Fox, and community manager Matt Hilton took the stage to answer player questions while letting everyone know what was coming around the bed for players to look forward to.
If you’re wondering when you can talk with your friends outside of logging into the game, Yoshida revealed that the team is working on developing an app that will allow you to chat with friends, linkshells, and your free company. That part is working and finished; the app hasn’t been released yet because the developers want to add more functionality such as retainer access and market functions. It’s planned for release before the next expansion.
More Hildibrand quests are also planned before the next expansion, specifically in patch 3.3. There are also plans to bring over the heretofore Japan-only cross-promotional items from 7-11 to the US; the delay is due to marketing signing off on everything, as Yoshida has already given his stamp on the upcoming plans. There are also plans to get some kind of gear and/or NPCs from Phantasy Star Online 2 in the game as part of the collaboration between the titles; while PSO2 is not available in North America, the collaboration items will be available worldwide.
FATEs were discusses as a possibility for gathering and crafting classes in the future as something worth discussing, albeit with no definitive plans. Yoshida also revealed that the titles for FATEs are puns in every language; rather than trying to directly translate a name, the localization teams get to each come up with their own pun titles. In Japan, most of the titles are puns based on old novels or previous Final Fantasy games.
The team is also looking to change or improve the code in place for calling your chocobo companion, but the code is quite complex and thus it’s taking a while. This ties into both having your bird out while queued for dungeons and being able to call your bird within a dungeon if you want to do so.
Yoshida was asked if the team would do away with gender-locking gear, to which he replied that he was aware of the call and that it was high on the priority list but would have to be done piece-by-piece. Players overwhelmingly shouted for the Gold Saucer bunny gear to be unisex, to which he responded with a laughing acquiescence and the catchphrase of “please look forward to it.”
In response to a question about how many new jobs were coming with the expansion, he replied with a pause and a simple answer of “jobs,” plural. Players will have to wait until fanfest for more. Flight for the old world content was also discussed as something the team would like to do eventually, but it wasn’t originally planned, and rather than redoing the old maps the focus is on new maps for future content.
Koji-Fox also fielded a question about the game’s lore, revealing that there is a very large lore bible for the game, consisting of a couple hundred pages from 1.0, more lore from 2.0 onward, and a large amount of setting information. That doesn’t mean that everything is planned in meticulous detail, though; some things are brought up and added unexpectedly. It’s why there are no peaches in Eorzea (Eorzea just doesn’t have peaches), but now it does have bears wandering around.
Yoshida revealed that he hates the hidden moogle quests almost as much as you do, while he was very fond of Alphinaud’s story from 2.55 through Heavensward. Koji-Fox, meanwhile, very much enjoys putting together the lore in the FATE descriptions, which many players do wind up missing but which offer extra incentive to those who catch it.
At the very last question, the team was asked about varying up the game’s patch structure… at which point the Palace of the Dead was revealed. The idea is to create more casual content that offers both more flexibility and more ways to take on existing challenges. The Palace is a bottomless dungeon filled with the undead, and those who explore this deep dungeon contend with monsters, traps, and an ever-changing layout.
In functional terms, the dungeon is meant for variable group sizes, from solo players to four people working together. It also features an independent progression system starting at level 1, allowing you to jump in with your friends even if you’re a veteran and your friends have just started. Item levels are accordingly not relevant to your power in the dungeon; rather, exploration and other means will be used to power yourself up.
Bosses await on multiple floors, with the game auto-saving your progress as you go along. If you fall in battle, you can restart from the last saved floor. There will be a limit to the number of floors at the start, but there are more floors planned for the future. Players will look for stones with the marks of the Twelve to power up, but some stones will also be traps, and players can expect to eventually see ranking systems based on how fast a given job can clear through the content.
The Palace of the Dead is expected to drop with patch 3.35, after the main body of patch 3.3 which will also include what’s being called a treasure hunting dungeon. More details will be available early next week with the next live producer’s letter; it’s a surprising enough revelation that plenty of fans are no doubt excited to see how the system will work and what’s coming around the corner.
No details were revealed about how this new progression system will work, of course. But the point is that it’s there, and it’s something entirely new. If you’ve gotten accustomed to the cadence of releases, they’ve become a bit more unusual after all.
