How to Beat Malenia, Blade of Miquella – First Phase

In the first phase, simplicity reigns supreme. Malenia will not use many skills, allowing players to employ summon clones during the encounter. Swiftly inflicting damage upon Malenia stands as the utmost priority during this stage.

Players can employ a jumping-heavy attack during the battle, which may knock Malenia to a standstill. Then they can continue to use combat skills to inflict significant damage upon her. 

Additionally, ensure that your clone doesn’t suffer significant health depletion. Malenia can replenish her health by inflicting damage upon the player, so it’s crucial to dodge her attacks. When Malenia leaps into the air with her sword overhead, swiftly distance yourself from her as quickly as possible. This way, she will target your clone instead of assaulting you directly.

How to Beat Malenia, Blade of Miquella – Second Phase

 Upon reaching the second stage, a cutscene plays, with her transformation. Once the cutscene ends, Malenia will descend from the heavens, triggering a scarlet rot explosion. It’s crucial to remain calm and refrain from rolling in a panic.  

Run underneath her if you’re close enough, and she’ll typically miss. If you’re a long distance from her, start moving to her left or right, then avoids her as she charges at you. When she lands, sprints away to avoid being hit by the following explosion.

When the explosion occurs, an exquisite flower explodes around Malenia. The explosion will cause Scarlet Rot to spread throughout the air. Don’t go near the flower and stay far from the explosion because this effect will progressively damage you over time. You can also seek medicinal remedies or augment your vitality with blood replenishment.

Before Malenia rises up, you could employ your combat skills to inflict substantial damage upon her. However, it is essential to maintain a safe distance and be prepared to dodge incoming attacks.

Keep some distance if Malenia is in the air but not very high. During this time, she is likely to target your clone for attack. If you acted quickly enough in the first phase, your clone should still have substantial health remaining, so there’s no need to be concerned.

However, if she flies very high, she will likely repeat the skills at the beginning of the second phase. In such a situation, we can employ similar tactics to dodge her attacks.

It’s important to note that the first and second phases of the battle with Malenia are the same. When Malenia leaps into the air and begins charging with a sword in hand, she will promptly unleash her skills. During this moment, she performs a three-phase skill that can be devastating. Another key element to help you in this boss battle is to use a two-handed sword, which can cause blood loss that allows you to reduce her health. We also recommend using Mimic Tear Spirit Ashes, as it will spawn a spirit copy of yourself.
