June’s Top 10 MMORPG of North America

The Top Ten MMORPG list of June came with the hot summer. In this month, Guild Wars 2 again hit the top rank. It is not certain if it is the result of its abundant new updates. Yet GW2 does shines in June’s Top Ten List. Winner of last month, Neverwinter falls to number two after Guild Wars. The third game in June is the black horse which rises 6 ranks, the Final fantasy XIV: A Realm. Wildstar still stands in #4. Maybe it has a secret tip of staying in that place. Another surprise in June is World of Warcarft. With two months’ disappearance, it came back now and ranked at number 8.

Guild Wars 2

In June, Guild Wars 2 announced plenty of new updates, including Dragon Bash, Marjory’s Story: The Last Straw, note for Sea of Sorrows, Sky Pirates of Tyria and some others. NCSoft is taking the strategy of drawing the players’ eyes with continuous updates. If a game’s content is not new, it cannot hold players. Yet we hope NCSoft can continue updating the game with more new contents.

Final fantasy XIV: A Realm

NA list

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is Square Enix's latest online installment in the legendary Final Fantasy series. Players enter the land of Hydaelyn to adventure in the regions of Eorzea, and can switch between four distinct classes and 18 sub-specializations by equipping different weapons. The PC game was originally released in September of 2010, but was brought back into development for a full overhaul and will relaunch alongside the PS3 version in 2013. There are also various new features added into the game, including new races, new classes and specializations, new job system, new city and so on.

Rift

After Patch 2.3, Rift is now free to play. Besides this new attractive point, Trion also released a huge new zone for max level players: The biggest Artifact Collection EVER, Cosmic Rhinoceroses, complex puzzles & achievements with new rewards, all-new quests that continue the story of Storm Legion, twisted artifacts, puppet shows, instant adventures, zone events , and so on. This may be the key that Rift can keep its players.

World of Warcraft

Classic will never be out of time. Just like World of Warcarft. After being missing in the Top Ten List for almost two months, WoW came back now with the new patch 5.4. It has to be all WoW players’ credit.

The update notes of patch 5.4 include a mega list of changes for various classes, as well as tweaks and additions to battlegrounds, pet battles and more. Every taunt ability now increases all threat generated against the target by 200% while the taunt is active.

Those who participate in PvP Pet Battles should happily note that round timers will get progressively shorter for a player who takes more than 15 seconds to issue a command during their turn. Any battle pet that could be rewarded from a Throne of Thunder boss in LFR will now be able to be won from a bonus roll as well.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

swtor in mmorpg list

Being decreased from #5 to #9, it is a little confused that Star Wars: The Old Republic lost its rank even the game has new contents added recently. In patch 2.2, SWTOR added a new game mode: Nightmare Mode. In this mode, rally your guild and prepare to progress through a total of twelve nightmarishly challenging bosses at Level 55 and earn great rewards. The level cap increase to 55 is included with the purchase of the Digital Expansion: Rise of the Hutt Cartel.

Through the Top Ten List, we can know that how significant new content is for the living of a MMORPG. Personally, if a game would be more mysterious elements, it can bring more players.
