Is Destiny 2 down?

Currently, there are no planned or unplanned downtimes for Destiny 2. However, developer Bungie occasionally temporarily shuts down its servers a few hours before an update to process them in preparation for a larger patch. These server shutdowns usually occur before significant events, the start of new seasons, the release of expansion packs, or mid-season patches the team pushes to the server.

To confirm whether you are the only player experiencing any issues, it’s recommended to check for scheduled extended maintenance days using Destiny 2’s Downside Explorer or the Bungie help pages. Why are the servers down in Destiny 2?

Destiny 2 servers occasionally shut down for several reasons. Most of the time, they are turned off on purpose, either for maintenance or before a massive update to the game, like Lightfall.
