LOTRO: Hero's Guide & NPC Profile

Ancient and gigantic, the towering peaks of the Misty Mountains (in Sindarin, Hithaeglir) run from Carn Dam, the capitol fortress of Angmar in the north, to Isengard, seat of Saruman the Many-coloured in the south. These hulking giants, separated by only rare mountain passes, divide the lands of Eriador and Rhovanion. With these peaks and valleys plagued with cruel weather and stalked by enormous beasts, the fate of Middle-earth has been changed more than once when Wizards, pilgrims, and kings have attempted to cross the Misty Mountains-and failed.

The range's history is as long and foggy as the mountain chain itself. Much of its lore is lost or forgotten, and even more is shrouded in the mists of legend. What is certain is that these steadfast peaks stood as an ancient witness to the epics, ancient and new, of both Eriador in the west and Rhovanion in the east. The first of the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves, Durin the Deathless, wandered these mountains in the early days of the earliest age of Middle-earth. His descendants delved mines and built halls throughout the range for thousands of years, and your own tale brings you here now.
Travel through Bree-land is commonly accomplished by one of two methods: on foot or by horse. For those not wealthy enough to own their own horses, Jack Cloverdale in Combe has several for rent

For a modest fee, Mr. Cloverdale will provide a fast mount to accommodate travellers going to Bree-town from the south and east. Many in the area are grateful for his services, which have averted countless blistered feet.
