December ’s Top 10 MMORPG in North America

Thank you for taking time reading our last month’s Top 10 MMORPGs. Now it’s approaching to the end of 2013. A fresh year is coming, and we wish you a happy New Year.

December’s Top 10 list shows 7 MMOs rising in the ranks, while one of the rests stays the same and the other two games were down a little. The list didn’t change much comparing to last month and keeps a totally up-going trend. Okay, let’s see what we have in the December.

Top 10 MMORPG List

WildStar (↑6 No.1)

WildStar

WildStar is another masterpiece from NCSoft. It stands in the top of December’s list. Let’s see why it can take the first place.

In the beginning of this month, WildStar’s two remaining classes have finally been announced. There’s the Engineer: a heavily armored handyman that’s tooled up with a quartet of robots. And there’s the Medic, a medium-range but highly mobile class that brings persistent damage and high-tech healing. Continuously in midmonth, The Spellslinger, The Stallker, The Esper and The Classic Warrior’s showing up brings more colors to WildStar. Everybody will admit they have a superhero in their heart, and this game satisfies their dream.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm(↑ 1)

This month FF XIV gets back quickly with a rising number of unique clicks. Last month we talked about its Patch 2.1, which seemed to bring no storms into players. But finally it approves that we are wrong. This new update is huge and thorough, including housing, Beast Tribe quests, daily roulette and much, much more.

ARA is the first major content update for SEs reimagined Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Guild housing, player versus player combat, and a slew of new features made their way into the game with this update.

Elder Scrolls Online (↑ 2)

Elder Scrolls Online

The Elder Scrolls Online is a fantasy MMORPG from Zenimax Online Studios and Bethesda Softworks based on the popular Elder Scrolls series. The game takes place during the Age of Heroes, 1,000 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and will feature classic regions of the Tamriel game world, including Morrowind, Daggerfall, and Skyrim. The Elder Scrolls Online will have solo and group questing, public dungeons, guilds, and massive PvP warfare that sets the game's three player factions against one another for control over the region of Cyrodiil and the throne of Tamriel.

Guild Wars 2 (↓ 2)

We made a wish to Guild Wars 2 last month of keeping rising. Yet when seeing December’s top 10, even though it’s only 2 ranks down, it is beyond our expectation.

World of Warcraft (↓ 1)

World of Warcraft

With the last raid in the Cataclysm expansion, Dragon Soul, Blizzard introduced a new Looking For Raid system (or LFR) that allowed players to queue for a specific wing of a raid and be grouped with others in an easier difficulty version of a raid. The LFR also introduced personal loot. To avoid drama over loot, the game would randomly decide if a player would get an item from a boss and then decide what eligible item on the loot table would be awarded. This new raid system proved to be incredibly popular and was offered for each raid released since.

Star Wars: The Old Republic (↑ 2)

We have talked about SWTOR’s calmness last month. It didn’t bring anything new to us. However in December, Bioware has announced that it will be hosting a live stream event to show off the Star Wars: The Old Republic content expansion, Galactic Starfighter. The team will be live for three hours and will feature epic space PvP combat. This new updates has pulled some players back.

EverQuest Next (No Change)

Nothing changed in its rank and nothing new in its update.

Neverwinter (↑)

Neverwinter

This month Shadowmantle, the second content expansion to Neverwinter, has officially launched. Shadowmantle brings an impressive array of new features into the game, including the Ranger class, collections, new interfaces and much more.

Rift (↑ 1)

Rift has kept up and down just between the ninth and tenth. Though there’s no news or updates in the game, it is good to stay in the list.

Star Citizen (↑)

Star Citizen

A new star in December, the Star Citizen, is a sci-fi MMO in development from Cloud Imperium Games Corporation and Chris Roberts, designer of the famous Wing Commander and Privateer series. The game allows players to take the roles of smugglers, pirates, merchants, bounty hunters, and pilots in a sandbox universe. Star Citizen will be available for a one-time purchase fee and no subscription, with an item shop based on in-game currency for convenience and customization items.
