The newest TOP 10 list comes with the heat wave of this trying summer. The list of July is a little different. Guild Wars 2 exchanged its number one place with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Number two of last month, Neverwinter, was defeated by EverQuest Next to the fourth. World of Warcraft dropped to #9. Yet it should be relieved that it stays in the Top 10. Hope we can still see it in next month’s list. The Secret World is the #10 game of July.
Let’s do a small analysis about the variation of the Top 10 MMORPGs.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn can move up two to reach the number one not just because of lucky. New hot contents are updated in the burning summer, including Key Allies Introduced, Battle System and Duty Finder Sections Added, Crafting and Gathering Sections Added. This could be the reason it can gain much popularity.
EverQuest Next is the planned next game in the EverQuest franchise of massively multiplayer online role-playing games, a successor to EverQuest, EverQuest Online Adventures and EverQuest II.
The game will also not be a sequel or prequel to any of the games in the EverQuest franchise; it is planned to present to players a "parallel world" of Norrath, one in which some of the locations and characters may be familiar, but specific relationships and events can diverge from the official storylines of the other games. The developers have stated an intention to return to a style of gameplay more like the original EverQuest, while retaining the advances in MMORPG design that have developed in the years since that game first launched. Sony Online Entertainment has developed a new game engine called Forge Light in which EverQuest Next is designed. It has been stated this game engine focuses on lighting effects and making game characters more realistic.
Neverwinter added Ghost Companion and Lillend Companion. The Ghost is an ethereal companion who is ready to fight at your side to overthrow the evil that encroaches upon Neverwinter! The troubled soul of Theratra, an unfortunate former halfling, believes you can help her find the adventure she lacked when living. Her ghostly form makes Theratra the perfect control companion, giving you the advantage in a fight even when you appear outnumbered! Lillend is a celestial creature with a fondness for art and music. Her melodies bring aid to her allies and destruction to her foes, and her harmonious magic gives new meaning to “power chords!” However, these companions may not be exciting enough for the players, or people have not felt the real fun of them, resulting that the game was down to number three.
It’s not easy to move up in the Top 10 ranks, even for only one place. Rift released some cool mounts in the game, and announced a new big event: Summerfest. On the 3rd of July The Secret World has its first birthday! For five straight days Game company celebrating this momentous occasion. It seems that the players were supportive to its birthday party, so that the game can be shown as number 10 in the Top 10 list. Hope we can see it in August’s list.
