It was with great interest that a few days ago we just tried the latestsampling of Career Mode for FIFA 15.We spent a whole day with the mode and we have found that FIFA 15 has the two sides, but let's begin with the good side.
Probably as you have already known, a new team management engine of FIFA 15 has let us get rid of the yearsof suffering and pain. Compared with these old systems, the system of FIFA 15 is an utter delight tonavigate. Just like the changes and substitutions of position or thecomparisons of players, now these just can be completed with a click.FIFA 15 has really night and day, andnot exclusive to the career mode. We have a deep impression on the new teammanagement suite.
FIFA 15 has a bility to save manykinds of Team Sheets and even to rename them, so you can set options veryquickly. And also because of the new player Instructions’ craft, you can completelychange the behaviour of the team that we have chosen very quickly.
The other historical weakness of FIFA Career Mode is actually on thepitch. On the pitch repetitive Al behavivires of the players have staved us fora very long time. When you play 100’s of games with a Career Mode save, the ALof CPU can be predicted very quickly and also be a very dry thing. EA hintedthat there would be improvements in this area in FIFA’s PR campaigh, and wehave experienced some great examples about this.
The first awaytie wasin theChampions League awaytie(we added the MUFC back) in whichwe faceStandard Liegeinour lastgroup game. I havealready qualified, but they needto wintobe in with a shot.
When the 63rd minutes came around the commentary team mentioned thatthe Standard Liegeneeds to win and discussed a change in Standard Liege’sattacking focus. Then from this point Standard Liegevirtually changed theirformation to 4-2-4, so they added relevant replacements to completement. Butthe key is that they also have switched their playing style, using a more direatapproach where they ususllylauched the long balls from deep into our 18 yardarea.
Of course the change of Standard Liege has lead our tactics’ change, wewill try to hold them off. They pressed continually, but we managed to hold on.At last they were sadly eliminated. It used to be messy, scrappy, but in FIFA 15 it was different.
The transfers are another area at whichEA has made the changes. The modeis progressed with the specific attention paid to these top players’ actualvalues, how their values form and how the players’ growth impact on theirvalues. In Career Mode of FIFA 14 if you were one of the big boys, you canalmost buy all you wanted in a fairly cheap price and at any time you cangather amas one of the world's greatest army.
In FIFA 15 thefirst thing that you will notice is that when we bide for these top players,the prices have been increased a lot.
Last year there were many issues with the growth of players.The EA haschosen to aim this area, because it is absolutely necessary, long-term success,when it comes to career mode.
What EA have done firstly is to remove the overnight capitulation of theones that reaches 30 years and years of age and tocompliment thatcertainplayers will now delay their retirement are. What this means is that choosingcheap veterans should be a feasible tactic, because although these veterans maylose a shade of pace, they should now keep their technical attributes for muchlonger.
The presentation is brilliant, and no doubt that it is the best entertainmentthat I have seen in Career Mode to date. Now we are playing in the PremierLeague. As we all know that Premier League has a new and important licensingdeal behind it, so this may not becopiedeverywhere. But what we have experienced in theEPL was astounding. All the Football stadiums, all the branding, all the teamsheets and special commentaries, sometimes they are just majestic. We will notspoil too much else in this arena, but we just know there absolutely have somegems for you to find.
Now let's talk about the problem which we think that it is a big one. Therest of Career Mode, besides a few nip and tuck, is substantially the same.Youth Scouting, global scout network, pre-season and press conferences and soon are all the same. And we do not want to lie, we were a little disappointedabout these.
FIFA 15 is not bad itself, for thisyear’s Career Mode has been a pleasant experience on the whole, and we haveplayed many a save which have eaten up many seasons.Now we really wanted to seesomething completely new, like a proper preseason, squad training and muchbetter press conferences and more. That’s all we can say.
It is really ironic that after waiting for a long time to hope that thebiggest issues (The Management of Team and the AL of CPU) in Career Mode be noticed,and you would think that having them both nailed in one year would be equal tothe greatest Career Mode. But for me it is cement that you can see howimportant the sustained advancement in all areas of CM is to the coolexperience. If the improvements of AL to gameplay indeed have stood the test oftime, then in conjunction with the match presentation it's likely to be thebest CM in terms of action on the pitch that we've ever seen.But now CM haschanged roles. The previous strength in CM's feature improvement, now is theweak point and we are afraid that it stands out.
The additional Information to this is that we have seen and played withthe new Team Management system to do the CM playtest in recent months, so itwas not new to us at all and therefore felt normal. However, for you guys, itwill feel new, exciting and vibrant in a long time.I can't emphasize how muchthe team sheets and player instructions. You guys will much enjoy Career Modethis year.
Maybe we are very hard to be satisfied. Or maybe we have expected toomuch. But we are looking forward to Career Mode for FIFA 15, for combining the AI with thepresentation, gameplay sliders, and the key system fixes. So it's likely to bea very enjoyable year.
