WoW: Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Random dungeons are being watched
- Feb 24, 2010

If you noticed that the 3.3.3 PTR has been updateed, you may have noticed that there are some interesting new statistics being tracked. Specifically, according to MMO-Champion,the followings are the now being tracked.

Kicked in the LFG(follower)(hidden)- Number of times the player kicked someone in LFG, voting, but not initiating

Kicked in the LFG(follower)(hidden)- Number of times the player has been kicked by someone in LFG

Kicked in the LFG(follower)(hidden)-Number of times the player kicked someone in LFG, initiating the kick

Abandoned LFG(hidden)-Number of times the player abandoned an LFG dungeon

Abandoned LFG(hidden)-Number of times the player completed an LFG dungeon

What does this mean exactly? Well, it means that at the very least Blizzard will know what you're doing in your dungeon groups with more granularity than before. How many times you start a vote kick, vote to kick, get kicked, dump a group or finish one will be tracked by character. While I'm sure this is information they have access to already, it should be easier than before for them to know if you've been bad or good so be good for goodness sake.

I have no idea what, if anything, they intend to do with this data but I'm still interested to see what develops

Tibia : Anti-Cheating Measures Reloaded
- Feb 09, 2010

A couple of days ago, the product managers of Tibia and the managing directors of CipSoft called their community managers to a meeting to announce the latest management decisions concerning our fight against cheating - a topic which has become pretty controversial within the community shortly after the publication of our featured article in January 2009. A lot of time has passed since then, but this time has not been wasted

Until the present day, a huge amount of data about cheaters in Tibia has been collected, analysed, evaluated and reevaluated. Only recently, this whole process has reached a point when sufficient statistical information was accumulated which allowed to draw comprehensive and truly reliable conclusions about the cheating situation, and to plan our next strategic steps. The first steps are taking effect straightaway

Improved detection

Thanks to the detailed analyses of the past months, the efficiency and power of our automatic detection tool was significantly improved. This enhancement instantly resulted in a remarkable boost of detections: Today, 16,598 Tibia accounts have been excluded from the game for using unofficial software to play during the last couple of weeks

Permanent final warnings

From now on, there will be permanent punishments for all players who gained permanent advantages through the act of cheating which includes the use of unofficial software to play, account sharing and account trading. As many of you have requested in the past, every single account which is identified for having cheated will now get a permanent final warning that does not vanish any more after 6 months. Also, all accounts which currently have a final warning due to the use of unofficial software to play, account sharing or account trading will not lose this warning either. In case of any further rule violation that would lead to a banishment, accounts with a permanent final warning will be automatically deleted without any prior warning

These two adjustments of our anti-cheating policy sound the bell for the next round of our fight against cheating. At this point, the Tibia official would like to thank all of our fair players for your unbelievable amount of patience, your commitment to Tibia and your amazing support during the past months.

Aion: Eye on Community—Latest news!
- Feb 07, 2010

Cerafina on server [ENG]Perento asks:
“It’s been several weeks now since the fort timer survey. When are they going to see a change?”
The Aion official taken the data collected from the in-game survey and compared it to our internal server statistics. Based on these factors, our decision is to “keep the enemy on their heels.” Next week we will be changing the capture timer to one hour, which is twice the amount of time it is currently set to.

The Aion offcial goal in the original change was to increase the difficulty of these battles and reduce the amount of time players needed to dedicate for the event. They believe that the new timer achieves a good balance, but that doesn’t rule out future reevaluations. They will be closely monitoring activity in the Abyss after the timer change is implemented to make sure that the battle rages on without any new negative side effects!
Happy February, everyone!

The Aion official hopes you’ve all had a good first month of the year and are keeping your eyes on their Veteran Rewards program in anticipation—doubly so since getting the Black Cloud Wing Feather is becoming tantalizingly close? First-day Aion adopters should see these spectacular wing items headed their way in just about two months!

Live Status Utility
Read through the thread before deciding whether or not this is something for you. Hoschi of Aionsource has created a neat little application that gives you quick information at a glance about a server’s online status and characters. They do not take any responsibility for the use of this application and will not provide any support. They just thought it looked cool and wanted to highlight it. To be safe, make sure to use an antivirus scanner before using it.

Gliding of Doom

WoW: Saronite Bombs and similar items disabled
- Feb 03, 2010

We do not know whether or not this was used in the Lich King we have seen so far. (Ensidia's kill screenshot suggests they did), but Daelo hit the European forums to make the announcement that they've temporarily disabled Saronite Bombs and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge. What does this have to do with the Lich King?

We just made a hotfix that disables the siege damage dealt by Saronite Bombs and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge. The siege damage of the bombs was causing the Frozen Throne platform to rebuild, which greatly decreases the difficulty of the encounter.

We'll reenable the siege damage in a later update when the issue with the Frozen Throne is fixed.
It is a longstanding tradition for end bosses to be exploited in the most hilariously awful of ways, so seeing something like this isn't all that surprising. Here's hoping nothing else like it crops up.

FF11: The Wand of Wish Bestowing
- Jan 27, 2010

The charm wand—that endearing single-handed weapon that has become synonymous with Valentione's Day..

Word has it that, this year, a certain activity has become popular among adventurers who possess this heart-adorned wand.

Artis was your average warrior and a pleasant enough lad. Like most of his peers, his definition of a good day involved a plentiful haul of treasure and some improvements in endurance and weaponry prowess. And like most others, he had a regular crew with whom he traveled. More often than not, though, he would be seen in the company of a certain lass. Her name was Velte, and she was a white mage by trade. The two of them had been adventuring together for as long as anybody cared to remember.

It was three Valentione's Days ago that Velte first began giving chocolates to Artis, a tradition that she had religiously maintained ever since. While Artis accepted the gifts gladly, he had always been a tad slow on the uptake—thick, some might say—and had never read deeply into his friend's gesture, much less thought to return the favor. But with this year's festivities fast approaching, it finally dawned on him that perhaps it would be appropriate to do so.

"N-nothing to see here! I-it's just something for a friend, that's all," the overly self-conscious Artis mumbled to himself, attracting cautious stares from passersby about the auction house as he bid successfully on what would be his first Valentione's Day gift to Velte—a white cape lovingly crafted from lavish squares of silk cloth. A nervous smile spread across Artis' face as he visualized the supple garment draped over Velte's slender shoulders. Just three days until this mental image would become reality.

His latest purchase neatly folded and stowed away inside his Gobbiebag, Artis made his way back to his Mog House with a spring in his step. Once there, he picked up the special linkpearl reserved exclusively for contact with Velte and called her. No response. Perhaps she would pick up later in the evening, thought Artis, but there was no luck then either, nor the next day.

Valentione's Day finally arrived without so much as a word from Velte. This was a cause of deep concern for Artis, as the two of them had never gone longer than a day without contact of some description. Where could Velte have gone? Had something terrible befallen her? This and countless other dreadful thoughts battered ceaselessly on the walls of Artis' troubled mind.

"That's one gorrrgeous cape you got there! A prrresent for Velte, yeah? Why, you ol' dog!"
Startled out of the dreary reverie he had been having in front of the auction house by this flurry of playful words, Artis spun around and was greeted by a familiar face wearing a grin that promised mischief. It was the Mithran ranger Cha Shya, mutual friend and fellow linkshell comrade. Ever ready with a jest or two, Cha could always be relied upon to brighten up dampened spirits, but Artis' sullen mood that day was beyond the help of words. Sensing something amiss at her friend's uncharacteristic response, Cha became serious.

"You were supposed to turn as rrred as a faerie apple when I said that. What's botherrring you?"
Artis wasted no time in sharing his fears with his friend. Upon hearing the story, a look of horror crept over Cha's face.

"P-prrromise you won't be angry with me? I, uh...told Velte about this rrrumor I'd heard...an enchantment of sorts..."

Defeat one hundred sheep with a charm wand and you shall be granted whatever your heart desires...or so the legend says. While most adventurers would dismiss such claims as mere fairytale—even a child yet tender in age would know to be skeptical—it was just like pure, innocent Velte to take this story to heart. Likely she was roughing it out at La Theine at this very moment, thwacking one sheep after another. Small wonder, then, that responding to a linkpearl call hadn't been her highest priority these past few days.

Somewhat relieved but deciding that he would not be satisfied until he had at least heard his companion's voice, Artis pressed his linkpearl to his ear, but Velte beat him to it by a split second with a distress call of her own.

"Art! H-help! Being attacked......by a giant ram......at La Theine!"

Without the luxury of time to observe common courtesy, Artis and Cha cut short the nearest white mage's visit to the auction house, commandeering his teleportation spell to the Crag of Holla. A blinding flash and a few heartbeats later, they stood atop the stone structure's teleportation platform in the heart of the plateau. From their vantage point, they promptly spotted Velte—thanks in part to her shrieks of panic. Hot on her heels was an enraged mountain of white fluff, murderous intent playing in its bloodshot eyes.

With the aid of her two friends and a kindly—if not entirely enthused-stranger to turn the tide, the giant ram went down without a fuss, its massive frame kicking up a cloud of dust. Cha apologized emphatically to Velte, eyes glistening with remorse for having misled her friend with tall tales, but her pleas for forgiveness were waved away with a never-you-mind smile. Artis, unable to suppress his curiosity any longer, asked the question that had been hot on his lips.

"In sweet Altana's name, Vel, what wish was it that you wanted so badly to come true?"

But Velte would not give in to Artis' furrowed, scrutinizing eyebrows. She simply stood resolute with chin down, cheeks flushed, and lips pressed tightly shut as if fearing the truth would spill out. In an unashamedly blatant act of diversion, she reached into her Gobbiebag and produced a heart-shaped box of chocolates. Ever silent, Velte thrust the daintily decorated package out at Artis' chest.

Knowing better than to press further, Artis allowed his eyebrows to unfurrow and let out a sigh. "As long as she's safe and well," he thought, as he reached into his Gobbiebag for his own present for Velte. With the fondest smile he could muster, he accepted the chocolates and placed the white cape into Velte's up-turned palms.

"Happy Valentione's Day, Vel."

A look of shock emerged on Velte's face.

"Could that ram have been the...hundredth one?" She breathed out in marvel. Noticing Artis' confused expression, Velte continued.

"Y-you see. My wish was to receive a Valentione's Day present...from you, Art."

A smile of boundless delight, vibrant as the breaking morn, beamed forth from her dust-mottled face.

It is said that from that day onwards, the sight of adventurers setting upon sheep with charm wand in hand became commonplace across the windswept wilds of La Theine.

Star Trek game:Space -the final frontier created
- Jan 21, 2010

Go into the hands of Atari and Cryptic Studios, the largest and most ambitious Star Trek game ever created

Very few sagas and universes can be considered as big and huge as Star Trek.Since its inception as a television series, Star Trek has been expanding in feature films (up to 11 different counting up with a reboot of the franchise at the hands of the excellent director JJ Abrams), new series that continued with the legacy of the original 1966 and the typical comics and books that delve more into what is now often referenced by fans across the world as the universe expanded.

The original series creator, Gene Roddenberry, provides viewers back in 1966 a unique opportunity to travel uncharted planets, unique worlds and meet different cultures and aliens. There have been many genres, from first-person shooters to spacecraft simulators.

Star Trek Online es eso, y más. Star Trek Online is that, and more. It underestimated the response to Trekkie Star Wars Galaxies, which has been rehabilitated and changed over time, and never managed to get along with the public and critics (and now live a complete renovation with the impressive Star Wars: The Old Republic ).

Space, the final frontier

Star Trek Online will take position on the official chronology of the saga, which, for those fans of the franchise, will be a great incentive to see the real gap to be within the historical canon. To be exact, will take part almost thirty years after the movie Star Trek: Nemesis (for anyone who does not remember the previous film was the resumption of the saga that we saw last May), which will be located in the 2409 years the Federation.Obviously, this will give enough foot temporary advance to new situations that will surprise more than one, and even provide an opportunity to watch races, and planets technologies quite differently or different from what we are accustomed.

Star Trek Online will advance and change as players make use of the environment and the qualities available in the entire universe. That is, the game will be dynamic, gradually being written, marking its own history as time passes. It may be predefined events from time to time by the same company or different actions taken by the players that make any event remain fixed for ever and ever in the game.

While there is a clear duality in the game between Klingons and Humans, almost all races will be present. At the beginning of the adventure can choose between various cultures and races and different classes or work. Mainly, three runs or jobs available in Star Trek Online: engineering, science, tactical race. Each has its own abilities, features and advancements available. Engineering will provide an opportunity to improve and change the skill points of the Allies, Science, will help us fight the enemies and tactical race will be more work-oriented offense and defense and more opportunity for action that will give players. The different classes and work, a priori, are not extremely different from each other at first, but as you move and get better, can give birth to characters radically different from each other, and that in certain situations, will be complemented perfectly .

WoW: Lichborne: Icecrown Citadel - Lower Spire loot for death knights
- Jan 21, 2010

where your host is still figuring out the perfect roleplay celebration macro for when he downs the Lich King -- when he's not writing about death knights, of course.

Now properly breached, hopefully even some of the less uber among us are making our way into the breach to say hello to the father of all death knights, the Lich King himself. Of course, as we start upon the final leg of the journey that started so long ago at Light's Hope Chapel, as we trudge ever closer to our destiny to the fight that will bring our story full circle, that may lead to our damnation or to a brighter new destiny, there's certainly a question that's on everyone's minds: What about the loot?

It's a good question. Let's take a look at the loot from the first few bosses up in the citadel. Before we do, though, it's a good idea to take a quicker refresher course in why we choose what we choose:

A note on deciding stats for DPS

Essentially, Weapon DPS and Strength are the most important stats for all three trees. Armor Penetration is next for Blood and Unholy, since they now do much of their damage physically. It's a bit less important for Frost because of frost damage, but even then, you shouldn't ignore it, since you'll be using Obliterate on bosses. Crit rating isn't amazing as it is for some classes, since we have fewer abilities that rely directly on critical strike, but it still has a place. Haste is back to the bottom of the barrel for just about everyone now that Unholy has Reaping back.

In general, consider stats to be stacked something like this:

Weapon DPS>Hit rating>Strength>Armor Penetration>Crit>Haste/Expertise for Unholy
Weapon DPS>Hit rating>Strength>Armor Penetration>Expertise>Crit>Haste for Blood
Weapon DPS>Hit rating>Strength>Expertise>Crit>Armor Penetration>Haste for Frost

It should be noted that Hit Rating and Expertise there only count up to the 8% special attack cap for hit and the 26 expertise dodge cap. In addition, while we will be mentioning plenty of good DPS armor, I'd remind Death Knight DPSers that the tier 10 4 piece bonus is going to be nice enough that you'll probably want to make sure you get that above all, especially if you can get the 25 man version of the armor. Also, while there are heroic versions of nearly every loot drop in this table, we can't technically get them yet, and most of them are just like their normal counterparts with a few more points of each stat. Whatever I say about the normal versions, just imagine I said them about the heroic versions too, only harder.

EQ2: Lore: Nektropos Castle
- Jan 19, 2010

Hidden in the depths of the dangerously beautiful Nektulos Forest stands Nektropos Castle.  It was once the home of the Everling family.

The legacy of the Everlings began with Rikantus Everling.  He was a citizen of Freeport and took over his father’s curiosity shop.  He dealt in unusual and magical items, attracting clientele interested in his unique wares and prospered.

His fame soon spread far and wide.  In addition to his thriving curiosity business, his research into all aspects of the arcane earned him a reputation in many circles.

Rikantus has often been credited with bringing long over due attention to the demigoddess known as Ullkorruuk, The Lady of Insurrection.  A statue depicting the demigoddess of treachery resides deep within his cursed castle, and many strange incidents have been reported to have occurred there.

The Everling family continued with Rikantus’ children.  His sons Maltus and Ollix and his daughters Alexa , Elise, Jenni, Sheila, Deirdre, Crysta, and Melanie.  The shades of all his children can be found in the family home, Nektropos Castle.

Nektropos Castle is nestled deep within Nektulos Forest.  The setting is appropriate to the great tragedy of the Castle and the Everling family.  Exploring the several versions of Nektropos Castle reveals the story of the poor cursed family.

Rikantus’ children all perished through ugly means.  His daughters were slain by their bodyguards and his sons died in the grip of madness.  Torn apart with grief, Rikantus himself was driven to madness and tried to free the souls of his daughters from the afterlife.

Now the Everlings are locked within the prison of Nektropos Castle, doomed by their father’s love to forever wander the halls hoping to be freed.
